an world wide web cafe, close to the local high school and a favourite garage, and the court house. I am thinking i could have personal set up for people to play on, sell coffee and deli sandwiches and desserts… maybe soup… a sitting room with tables to sit at and a couch or two also.. we could also do personal repair and used personal sales… there is also enough room in this building to do a book store, and also enough to sell consignment clothing & electronics.
Sounds perfect. Be sure to play some music that is popular for your target market as well. Maybe if you have the space you could also have a “jam” night with local people coming in to perform their own music.
Could be. Seriously now. I consult to start up companies. No charge. Just a pay back for the people that helped me. They taught me the ropes and my company is very profitable. So, if you need any advice., let me know.
You’re really trying to corner the market, arn’t you?!!!
It sounds good!
It sounds like a good idea. But! one thing I noticed in our area, Starbucks wiping out the local places. The one that has survived, is a coffee house combo, much like you mentioned, in a historic downtown setting. It feels comfy cozy, very charming, great athmosphere, not trendy. Attracts all age groups. Good luck.
I think you can do just about anything you want and whilst its great to diversify you have to have a main focus, something you specialise in that you do well and and do it better than most of your competitors.
The diversification could be a part of your strategy it will make you different from competitors, however if you cant do all these things to a satisfactory standard people will make assumptions that the other facets of your business are much the same.
I would say have one primary focus (eg, sell sandwhichs) and two secondary elements (eg. internet cafe and coffee). It may pay to do some more research about what people in that area want.
Good Luck
IT’S TOO LATE, I’VE SEEN THESE PLACES FAIL IN A COLLEGE TOWN, IF THEY CAN’T MAKE IT THERE WHERE CAN THEY.
Good morning dear. That sounds like a really good idea. For the reason that, you are placing this close to a school. There are school age children who do not have computers, and they do have school work that reguires the internet.Selling coffee, sandwiches, soups, and desserts, will attract a wide variety of people. You will attract those on their lunch break from other establishments nearby, you will attract those from the courthouse and the garage, since your close.Adding the books ,electronics, and fixing computers will definately bring in more business. It is a wonderful idea.I wish you the best of luck with this business.
I would do a little research in the area and see how much interest there would be in a business like that. Sad but true many businesses start out well but end up having to go out of business because of all the financial responsibilities (taxes, insurance, cost to run the business, payroll, etc.) If you decide to do it, good luck just do some numbers crunching and get the advice of a good accountant.
It depends on the town.
