Guiliani says he wants to run the country like a business. What do you think of that?

January 28, 2012 · 19

Is this just a way of packaging himself to us? Are these empty words? Are you of the view that running the country like a business would be good since businesses have to operate well or else they go under? When did we become infatuated with the president as the only “ruler” of the country? As a side note, I thought there were three branches to govt…Anyways, Do you want one ceo taking care of all of us like the tiny babies that we are? Do you want to give your power to a mortal whether on the left or right? What are your thoughts on this? Why do you need a leader? Why do you want to be “patriotic”? Why do you support a president? Are you human or american? Isn’t this flag waving patriotism a thin veil for our own insecurity and identity? If you werent american, would you still be?Have fun with that one.

What the heck does that mean?

Businesses are run to make a profit. Governments cannot be run to make a profit because by nature, they should only be doing the thinks that the public needs which are not profitable and so will not be done by private business.

And what does Guiliani know about running a business, anyway? He was a US Attorney and a Mayor. Now he sells his name to make lots of money. How does that give him business experience?

I don’t think running this nation as a business is a good thing. I think we need to think of ourselves as a community- business aren’t communities.
they are about profit and being the best- meaning cutting who ever falls below standards

most americans don’t hate america- we just hate other americans

In some ways we should run the country like a business. Get rid of the crazy government red tape. We all know the govt has some pretty a** backwards ways of doing things. But we don’t want our country ran like one of todays corporations. Masses beware you are but slaves.
As far as being an American – I think a large portion of our people have forgotten what that means. A patriot is standing up for what is right even if it is just a where you work. You don’t have to be part of a union to get together with your co-workers and demand decent wages and benefits especially when the corporate executives are making tens of millions a year.
Unfortunately, most people are afraid and behave like back in high school. They just follow the crowd and want to fit in rather than make their own lives, their children’s and grand children’s better. They all chicken out when it’s time to speak out!
We are a nation of wimps

OMG Business go bellyup everyday!! His state wasn’t fairing to well when he was the mayor.
As for a board of election being congress, it’s done a lot of good with this president??

Better than running it like a charity!
I am tiered of paying for a bunch of no loads! I also think welfare recipients should work !
There are lots of jobs they could do for the city and county!

Like which company, like Enron, HP or Huliburton?
Sounds like a great idea if you don’t like America.

  7. Floyd G says:

The problem with his proposal is that it has been tried again and again with ever republican president since Reagan.

Don’t like the Air Traffic Controller’s union? Declare it illegal and fire the whole lot of ‘em.

Problem is, when does ‘big’ government become too small to be useless? And who here really trusts corporate mindsets to be fair and equitable to the majority of the citizens of this country?

I love capitalism as much as the next fellow, but only when it works properly. Zero sum capitalism will destroy this nation quicker than our enemies abroad.

  8. Zenrage says:

People who want to run the entire country like a business should be fired, have their pensions removed, then thrown off the premises and arrested if they try to re-enter.

  9. sway_26 says:

Most companies have a board of directors (I guess this would be congress)

Cheers and have a nice day

Profit oriented with no regard for individuals….sounds tremendous.

Novel Idea, that’s what Clinton did, he didn’t spend more then what he took in. Want to bet thats what Rudy means when he says that. Not hardly. Supply side economic’s has never worked and all repugicans practice tax cuts for the rich while the poor and middle class pay for it. Thats not good business as Clinton has proved.

    ENRON USA

  13. JAY O says:

Government is the biggest business that there is. Running it that way would make sense. What I mean is that we would be more fiscally responsible.

  14. Steven H says:

Dubya is trying to run the country like a business and see the mess we are in. I doubt it will work.

  15. tumbleweed1954 says:

If the government was a business they would get raided by the FBI.

  16. mano w says:

    As long as it’s profitable.

  17. Millie C says:

That’s how our health care system is. See how well that is working… :-/

  18. Shrink says:

Well, I think it’s better than him telling us he wants to run the country like his marriage(s).

    Not a fan.

  19. Tell Me Another One Mr. Bush says:

I think that’s how Perot lost the election, so it’s a pretty stupid move on Rudy’s part.
